Quality Assurance Technician
The QA Technician is responsible for approving and signing off on all shipments of industrial products prior to shipment. Analyze and maintain records on incoming grain, in-process product and finished product. Report QA issues to Lab Manager / Quality Manager and operators to ensure production is corrected and product meets specifications for safe quality product. Maintain lab in a safe and sanitary condition. Assist in and be prepared for all in-house inspections, outside audits and all customer inspections.
Responsibilities and regular duties:
- Perform test of incoming grain to ensure quality of product and compliance to company specifications required for raw grain and ingredients.
- Perform test on in-process and finished products to ensure customer specifications are maintained.
- Prepare samples and appropriate forms for the outsourcing of required testing.
- Complete Certificate of Analysis (COA) and result sets for all products according to customer specifications.
- Assist Quality Management in testing products for nutritional values whether internally or external and assist in the production of new product samples for existing and/or new customers.
- Assist Quality Manager in evaluation of customer samples provided to determine product ingredients and percentages.
- Maintain lab equipment and assist Lab Manager and QC Coordinator in ensuring calibrations are completed as required by manufacturer, company and/or customer recommendation.
- Manage retain samples as required by company policy and/or customer requirements.
- Inspect incoming ingredients, packaging materials and as well as outgoing ingredients as needed.
- Audit HACCP forms for accuracy.
- Perform product holds and releases.
- Implement Non-Conformances and documentation.
- Communicate with internal and external customers regarding raw and finished product, samples etc.
- Check off-line metal detectors and required magnets as scheduled
- Assist maintenance in the completion of food safety work orders; including sanitizing and inspecting completed work order and authorizing equipment start up as required.
- Review magnet tapes daily
Compliance
- Maintain records of statistical process control activities and train employees in performance of new tests.
- Assist in controlling HACCP issues within production and stop production if product safety is in jeopardy.
- Assist in control of GMP procedures.
- Review data from production and lab testing against product specs
- Accurately translate micro COA's into Galileo result set
- Complete pest inspections and internal audits per schedule
